28/9/2002 Old Colfeians 1 D.A.F.C. 3
Following the fine opening draw against Croydon Strikers, Drummond were in high spirits. The game started brightly and with just 10 minutes on the clock Drummond took a deserved lead. After a series of corners the ball dropped nicely at the feet of Lawrence Mills and he made no mistake from 8 yards. Drummond continued to press and after 15 minutes Jamie Walker went on a fine run down the right flank but the final ball into the area was poor. On the 20 minute mark Tony 'Chicken' Bellamy replaced Tony Northover on the left side of midfield following the recurrence of a muscle injury. This early change seemed to unsettle Drummond as within 3 minutes Old Colfeians were back in the game following some sloppy defending. Their joy was short lived as Chicken restored the lead with hopeful lob/cross from 25 yards that evaded the keeper and nestled in the back of the net. The rest of the half was frustrating as Drummond failed to make their superiority tell with some very ordinary football.
Sean Joyce, managing the team in the absence of Peter Neville, fired up the team at halftime with his usual pearls of wisdom and sent them out unchanged. The second half performance was much better and on 70 minutes, Rab Anderson pounced on a deflected defensive header in midfield, ran powerfully into the box and slotted the ball past the advancing keeper, 3-1 to Drummond. Despite making heavy work of the opposition, Drummond held firm to clock up their first win of the season.
