13/9/2003 Farnborough OBG Res 4 - D.A.F.C. 2
Despite dominating for long periods, Drummond failed to drive home the advantage and slipped to a defeat they hardly deserved.
With the manager opting for a 4-5-1 formation Drummond started lively and took the game to Farnborough. Move after move saw them carve through the home team without ever really making a clear cut chance. Then a fifteen minute purple patch from Farnborough, added to some schoolboy defending, saw the home team race into a 3-0 lead that changed the complexion of the game. Drummond, however, didn't give up and Rab Anderson, in the role of the lone striker, was rewarded for all his hard work with a fine headed goal after 35 minutes. The half ended with the score at 3-1.
Opting for a more traditional 4-4-2 formation in the second half Drummond piled on the pressure. Despite failing further behind to a classic counter attack, Drummond battled on and were rewarded when the referee pointed to the spot after Tony Arthurs was brought down in the box. Darren Hancock stepped up and ruthlessly dispatched the spot kick.
More chances followed and there was relief on the faces of the home side when the referee blew for full time with the score at 4-2. Whilst pleased with the effort and performance of the team, Drummond Manager Peter Neville was bitterly disappointed with the result and in particular, the sloppy defending in the first half.
